ABOUT

MARY CYRUS

A little about me: I've been photographing portraits, events and weddings professionally for more than ten years. I served as the Head of Photography for a national retail chain (Earthbound Trading Company), while building my business on nights and weekends, and finally took my own business full time in 2014. I get so much enjoyment out of creating heirloom photographs for my clients! I can't imagine a better career for myself.

I'm an avid genealogist, and I value family photos more than anything else that I find in my research. I love to imagine my clients' descendants one day valuing my work in the same way that I value the few existing photos of my great grandparents in their youth.

I also occupy my time with aerial fitness, gardening, great dane wrangling (I have three great danes, and yes, they weigh more than me, and no, they don't have saddles... yet), watching sci fi shows, reading fantasy novels, singing along to an incredibly eclectic selection of music from Bob Wills to Lizzo, playing celtic fiddle, and learning to play mandolin.

My husband Opie and I married in 2009. I reminisce about our wedding day at every wedding that I capture. I love life with my software architect husband and our three giant dogs, at our home tucked away in the Piney Woods of Northeast Texas.

Most of my closest friends entered my life as photography clients or as fellow wedding vendors, and I look forward to befriending more of you!
